The sun is back and that also means it’s a great time to get active. Whether you enjoy working out, running in the park, or doing outdoor yoga, there’s an array of activities to choose from come summer.

After a winter spent hibernating however, it can be difficult to get active once again and into a new fitness routine. I know! Fortunately, I have some foolproof ways to stay motivated and get active this summer.

Here are 5 smart ways to motivate yourself to get active this summer!

Set a goal

From keeping fit to gaining muscle mass, everyone can have different fit goals for the summer. What’s important is to set a goal and stick to it over several weeks. Setting a goal will allow you to stay focused and will remind you why you started getting active in the first place.

Get new clothes

What's better than a new pair of leggings for some extra fitness motivation? Since we received our new leggings, I can’t live without them and I’ll use every excuse to wear them, even a workout session. Once you have a new fitness outfit, you’ll feel motivated too to workout and show off your new purchases.

Workout with a friend

Working out as a pair is always better, because you have someone to stay motivated with and to accompany you through the ups and downs. Find a friend, set a common goal, and schedule weekly workout sessions together. You’ll be motivated and determined to achieve your goals in no time.

Make a playlist

I love listening to music when I’m working out. In fact, you can always find me with my headphones and Ipod at hand. Create a fun playlist and opt for upbeat music, and you’ll always have motivation to get moving.

Have fun

Getting back into a workout routine can be hard, but after just a few sessions, you’ll find your rhythm again. Practice a sport or take on a fitness routine that you like, and that fits your goals. The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself and come out of your sessions feeling good.
