To keep warm this Fall, while still looking on-trend, depend on your trusty Fall layering pieces. As temperatures slowly creep towards zero, we feel the urge to throw on a puffer jacket and walk out the door. If you’re looking to create a more stylish look however, you’re going to have to do better than just one coat.
Layering is like an art and each piece you put on should compliment each other. To create a stylish outfit, I like to start with an outerwear staple and then choose my lighter layers according to that. By doing so, you’ll be able to create an on-trend look that’s still weather-appropriate.
Here are 5 outerwear staples that you can use to layer!
1. Corduroy Jacket
If you’re going for a hipster yet chic look, a corduroy jacket is sure to make heads turn. I love this jacket type because it’s usually quite warm and can be styled with various pieces. Layer a scarf, sweater or even a hoodie underneath this jacket to get an “off-duty” look.
A blazer on the other hand is ideal for a business casual outfit. You have to keep warm and still get to work after all! Cardigans and scarves work best with a blazer because they’re lighter and will fit better under a fitted blazer.
For those warmer Fall days, you should definitely utilize a denim or cotton vest! My favourite look is with a fitted turtleneck and a hat. Since a vest is less bulky than a coat, putting on a hat will add some dimension to your outfit.
4. Denim Jacket
Everyone loves a good denim jacket, am I right? Denim in general is extremely versatile which makes this jacket super easy to style! For a casual look, you can wear a hoodie underneath or opt for a sweater and a blouse for a more sophisticated outfit.
You can never go wrong with a peacoat, especially in the Fall. This is my favourite outerwear piece because it looks good with anything. This coat style comes in so many different patterns and materials making layering options endless!
