It's beginning to feel a lot like winter and whether you're ready for it or not - it's coming! If you're anything like me, you may not be overly excited about the cold or snow that will soon cover the ground, but what you can get excited for is winter fashion!
Cozy knits, oversized jackets and a plethora of fun printed tights to choose from are just a few of my favourite things to own winter dressing. Ready to learn how to dress warm and stay on trend?
Here are 5 style tips to dress warm and stylish this season!
1. Oversized coats > crop jackets
Skip the crop jacket trend and invest in an oversized or longline coat this season. Crop jackets are really just for fashion and definitely not function, while an oversized or longline coat not only covers your top half, but your bottom half too, keeping everything warm. I personally love a big fuzzy teddy coat, but a long oversized puffer would be a great piece for cities that get frigid temperatures and a lot of snow!
2. Chunky knits
Tis’ the season to stock up on chunky knit sweaters! Nothing keeps you toastier then a thick knit sweater and they look cute with anything. Get a ton of versatility out of this ultra warm piece by pairing it with jeans or a mini skirt and tights. My tip would be to opt for soft pieces to avoid constantly scratching an itch under all your winter layers.
3. Over the knee tights with sock effect
I am such a skirt and dress girl no matter the season, but on those freezing cold days I need more layers on my legs to keep me warm. Enter, Rachel’s Over-the-Knee Tights with Sock Effect! Not only do they keep your legs toasty warm, but you don’t have to worry about constantly pulling up your socks again, which is a major perk in my books! My favourite way to style these tights is with a leather skirt or shorts for a contrasting look that’s both warm and stylish.
4. Platform boots
I have a thing for chunky knits and boots! Relive the 90's with a pair of throwback platform boots. Not only are they trending, but they keep your feet warm and give you extra height, which comes in handy when avoiding snow, salt and slush! Plus, these babies are super Instagrammable with basically any outfit, so I think that's another good reason to pick up a pair!
5. Cute accessories
No winter look is complete without a couple of warm accessories. I have always been a beanie girl and l love a fun print to enhance an outfit. The secret to really locking in that heat is to make sure your extremities are warm too! Don't forget your gloves, scarves and beanies to finish off the perfect winter look and of course to keep warm too!
